The Cost of Undecidedness
We are taught that bad decisions are the primary risk to a successful life. We are taught wrong. The greatest drain on your resources - emotional, financial, and temporal - isn't a wrong turn. It's the refusal to turn at all.
Undecidedness is a silent tax. It is the friction that grinds your gears while the engine is running at full RPM. When you stand at a crossroads and refuse to choose, you aren't "keeping your options open." You are paying for all options simultaneously while benefiting from none.
The Paradox of the Open Door
In my previous exploration of Signal and Noise, I noted that the skill of the modern era isn't consumption, but taste. Undecidedness is the failure of taste. It's the belief that by not closing a door, you remain in control of the hallway.
But hallways are not destinations. They are transitional spaces. To live in a hallway is to exist in a state of permanent low-level anxiety. Every moment spent "weighing the options" beyond a reasonable threshold of information is actually a moment spent leaking energy.
The Computational Expense of Maybe
Think of your brain like a processor. A decision is a completed task. An undecided state is a background process that never ends. It eats RAM. It slows down every other operation.
When you decide - even if the decision is imperfect - you free up that processing power. You move from the theoretical to the empirical. You gain the one thing undecidedness denies you: data.

The Architect's Pivot
If you want to build a life of leverage, you must become an architect of your own momentum. This requires the "Binary Bias":
- Drop the 'Maybe': If it's not a 'Hell Yes' or a strategic 'No', it's a drain.
- Limit the Window: Give yourself a hard deadline for the decision. Once the clock stops, the deliberation stops.
- Commit to the Iteration: Realize that almost no decision is final. You are not choosing a permanent state; you are choosing the next set of problems to solve.
Choose. Not because you're certain, but because the cost of waiting has already exceeded the cost of being wrong.
Stop collecting ideas. Start killing them.
